UAE Announces Projected Dates for Major Islamic Events in 2027
The UAE Astronomy Centre has released its latest projections for key Islamic calendar dates in 2027, helping residents prepare for upcoming holy occasions. Because the Hijri calendar relies on the monthly sighting of the crescent moonâwhich can result in months lasting either 29 or 30 daysâthese dates remain subject to final confirmation by the official Moon Sighting Committee closer to the time. According to current calculations, Ramadan is expected to begin on February 8, 2027, as the crescent moon is unlikely to be visible earlier in the region, leading to a 30-day month of Shaban.
Following the holy month of fasting, Eid Al Fitr is anticipated to fall on either March 9 or March 10, depending on the moonâs visibility at the end of Ramadan. Later in the year, the focus will shift to Eid Al Adha, which is likely to be observed on May 16 or 17, 2027. This significant festival will be preceded by the Day of Arafah, expected around May 15 or 16. Finally, the Islamic New Year, marking the beginning of Muharram 1449 AH, is forecasted to arrive in early June 2027. While these estimates provide a helpful framework for planning, official announcements will follow the traditional moon-sighting process as each month approaches.
