UAE and Seven Nations Denounce Israel’s E1 Settlement Expansion

Sat, Aug 22, 2026(1h ago)UAE

A coalition of foreign ministers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt has issued a joint statement firmly opposing Israel’s “E1” settlement plan and ongoing activities east of occupied East Jerusalem. The group condemned the rising violence against Palestinians, asserting that these actions, often facilitated by Israeli authorities, stand in direct violation of international law and UN resolutions. By framing the E1 plan as a reckless escalation, the ministers warned that such moves threaten regional stability and permanently fracture the territorial integrity of the West Bank, effectively jeopardizing the dream of a contiguous Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The participating nations emphasized that a two-state solution based on 1967 borders is the only legitimate pathway to lasting peace in the region. They called for immediate international intervention, urging the UN Security Council to hold those responsible for settlement expansion accountable through sanctions and a cessation of financial support. Ultimately, the ministers demanded an immediate halt to all activities that alter the demographic landscape of the Palestinian territories, insisting that the international community must fulfill its obligation to protect the rights of Palestinians and uphold the rule of international law.
