Kuwaiti Security Forces Thwart Iranian Infiltration Attempt
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior recently reported a tense confrontation after four individuals linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attempted an illegal maritime entry into the country. According to state news agency Kuna, the group—comprising two navy colonels, a captain, and a lieutenant commander—was intercepted while attempting to reach Bubiyan Island aboard a chartered fishing vessel. During the ensuing firefight, one member of the Kuwaiti armed forces sustained injuries, and while four of the infiltrators were apprehended, two others reportedly managed to evade capture. The detainees later confessed that their mission was sanctioned by the IRGC to carry out hostile operations on Kuwaiti soil.
In response to the incident, the United Arab Emirates has issued a stern condemnation, labeling the breach a hostile act. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed full solidarity with Kuwait, praising the swift response of local security forces in neutralizing the threat. He emphasized that the stability of Kuwait is deeply interconnected with the security of the broader Gulf region, reiterating the UAE's unwavering support for any measures Kuwait deems necessary to safeguard its sovereignty against such provocations.
