Dubai Police Warns Families Over Risky Energy Drink Trends

Sun, May 17, 2026(51d ago)UAE

Dubai Police has issued a stern warning to parents regarding viral social media trends that encourage children and teenagers to consume excessive amounts of energy drinks. The Cybercrime Department highlighted that much of this online content is manufactured purely for engagement, completely ignoring the severe health risks posed to young viewers. Authorities cautioned that excessive intake of these beverages can lead to life-threatening complications, including heart rhythm disorders, sudden cardiac arrest, and chronic issues like high blood pressure, extreme anxiety, and sleep disturbances.

To combat this, officials are urging parents to keep a close eye on the digital content their children consume and to have open conversations about the dangers of blindly following online fads. This initiative follows a broader trend of restrictions across the UAE, where schools in Abu Dhabi and private institutions have already moved to ban energy drinks on campus to protect student well-being. Residents are encouraged to report any harmful content or promotional material targeting minors through the official Dubai Police app or the E-Crime platform, which also offers educational resources to help families navigate and stay safe in the digital space.
