Search and Rescue Operation Underway for Missing K2 Airways Cargo Plane
A K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 freighter is currently the subject of an urgent search and rescue mission after disappearing over the Arabian Sea. The aircraft, which was traveling from Sharjah to Karachi, lost contact with air traffic control on Tuesday night following reports of a technical failure in its navigation system. Radar data indicated that the plane underwent a series of erratic maneuvers, including sudden descents, before vanishing roughly 155 nautical miles west of Karachi. Authorities have since mobilized the Pakistan Navy, Air Force, and Civil Aviation Authority to scour the area for any signs of the wreckage.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced his profound concern regarding the incident, instructing all relevant agencies to utilize every available resource to expedite the search. The airline has officially confirmed that there were five crew members on board: Captain Mohammad Rizwan Idrees, First Officer Faisal Mehmood, Load Master Muhammad Toufique Khan, and engineers Arif Siddiqui and Mohammad Hamid. As the investigation continues, K2 Airways is working closely with government officials to determine what led to the loss of this 25-year-old freighter, which had been converted for cargo operations in 2012.
