Abu Dhabi Warns Residents Against Buying from Unlicensed Street Vendors

Wed, Jul 8, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has issued a strong advisory urging residents to refrain from purchasing goods from street vendors and unlicensed sellers. Authorities warn that these products bypass essential regulatory oversight, posing significant risks to public health and safety. Because these items lack verified origins and quality controls, the municipality stresses that shopping exclusively at licensed retail outlets is the only way to ensure products are safe and fit for consumption.

To combat this, the city has launched an awareness campaign aimed at reducing informal trading and preserving the aesthetic and urban character of the capital. Residents are encouraged to play an active role in maintaining public safety by reporting unlicensed vendors to the Abu Dhabi Government contact center at 800555. Furthermore, the municipality reminded traders that all commercial activities must be conducted through authorized channels with the proper licensing, as compliance is vital to protecting the community and upholding local regulations.
